Fall 2009 New Members
After a period of advertising and recruiting, the organization officially welcomes new members into the group through a program that has its roots in the original ceremony from more than 80 years ago. This ceremony, openend to non-members several years ago, is an ideal way to celebrate academic excellence with our students at Mercer.
During the ceremony, candidates for induction are given information about Phi Eta Sigma's history and purpose. They also become more acquainted with the responsibilities associated with their membership.
Family members and other guests are invited to attend this relatively short program that will be highlighted by remarks from some of Mercer's key academic administrators. A light reception follows the program.
Celebrating 75 Years on Campus! The Mercer University Chapter of Phi Eta Sigma marked a milestone during Spring 2007. We welcomed new members into the organization with pomp and circumstance as we celebrated our 75th year on campus!
The Spring 2007 Induction Ceremony was held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the University Center Arena. This special program featured dinner, remarks from President Underwood, comments from Dr. John Sagabiel of the Phi Eta Sigma National Office, and the traditional recognition of new members.
