Summer Orientation
for all first-year students beginning in the fall semester
During the summer, Mercer hosts several one-day sessions on the Macon campus for incoming first-year students and their families. During Summer Orientation, students meet with an academic advisor and review their fall course schedule. Students also have the opportunity to interact with current Mercer students as well as other members of the incoming class, tour the campus, and meet with representatives from various campus departments to learn more about their programs and services. Family members learn more about the Mercer culture, student health and safety, the financial aid process, and other services offered to students and their families.
Transfer Student Orientation
for transfer students beginning in the fall semester
A one-day session designed specifically for transfer students to acclimate them and their families to Mercer University’s academic and campus resources. Students have the opportunity to meet with a representative from their academic department to determine a fall course schedule, learn more about student organizations and opportunities for campus involvement, meet members of the Mercer community, and visit various offices to complete campus business before the semester begins.
Bear Beginnings
(fall orientation) for all first-year students beginning in the fall semester
First-year students arrive on campus several days before classes begin to move into their residence hall and become acclimated to campus. The Bear Beginnings program is designed to help first-year students transition both academically and socially to life at Mercer. During Bear Beginnings, students finalize their fall course schedule, learn of various campus resources, gain an understanding of Mercer’s academic expectations, and attend social events. First-year students experience Bear Beginnings alongside their Peer Advisor (PA), orientation group
(O-Group), and academic advisor.
Transfer Welcome Day
(fall orientation) for all transfer students beginning in the fall semester
Transfer students are invited to Transfer Welcome Day prior to the start of the fall semester. This one-day program offers an opportunity for transfer students to finish any last-minute business prior to the beginning of the semester, finalize their fall class schedule with an academic advisor, and receive their semester planner and course catalog.
