How Do I Apply?

It's easy! First-time applicants submit the following:

An Application, available only online
Two References, available only online
Submit a head shot of yourself. Instructions for submissions are on the application form.

Applications are due by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012. Any application received after this deadline will not be considered.

Please Note: If you are doing Mercer on Mission this summer, you may still apply. Doing a MOM almost never precludes someone from serving as a PA. Apply and we'll sort out the details through the process.

Monday, February 13. On this date, the application link will become active. Applications may be submitted at any time beginning on this date.

Application Procedures
1. Review the Position Description to learn more about the details of being a Peer Advisor
2. Submit an Application Form
3. Email the link to the references form to the two people who will serve as references. These two individuals may be Mercer faculty, staff, or former employers (please no relatives or friends). At least one reference MUST be a Mercer employee.
4. Email a head shot by clicking on the link to the right.
5. Respond to an email verifying the time of your interview.
6. Sing the "Fight Song!" You're done!

Monday, March 5, 2012. Applications are due by 8:00 a.m. on this day. A complete application consists of: completing the application form, having
two references complete forms, and submitting a head shot.

Friday, March 16, 2012. Beginning at 6 p.m. in Stetson 251, Group Interviews will be conducted. You will be placed in a group with other PA applicants. Each group will participate in various fun and engaging activities designed to
get all of you talking with each other and with current Orientation staff. More details about this process will be provided at that time.

Saturday, March 17, 2012. Individual interviews are slated in 20 minute blocks and will take place in Penfield Hall. Please arrive ten minutes before your scheduled time. When you apply, you will select times that work best with your schedule. We will then confirm your official time via email. If your availability changes and you cannot make your interview time, please contact us to change your time. During your interview, you will sit down with one current student staff member and a professional member of the Office of Academic and Advising Services. Please dress professionally

Week of March 19, 2012. We will notify you of your application status with us during this week. You will receive word from us no later than Friday, March 23, 2012.


Important Dates for 2012 Peer Advisors

June Training Dates All New Peer Advisors are required to attend a training session in June. This session must be attended before the first summer session during which you are scheduled to work. The dates are: Thursday, June 14 Sunday, June 17 Thursday, June 21 Sunday, June 24 All PAs work the evening of each Thursday and Sunday before an orientation session to do set-up and go over the next day's schedule.

Summer Orientation All Peer Advisors work at least two of the four Summer Orientation Sessions. These are scheduled for: Friday, June 15 Monday, June 18 Friday, June 22 Monday, June 25

Fall Training All Peer Advisors attend training in August before Bear Beginnings. This year's training dates are tentatively scheduled for: Saturday, August 11 through Friday, August 17. Bear Beginnings Bear Beginnings is scheduled for Saturday, August 18 through Monday, August 20.
