Where to Start
Upon acceptance to Mercer, be sure to maintain contact with your admissions counselor. This individual will help you walk through the process and answer specific questions. Having many questions is normal for transfer students, especially questions that require specific answers, such as which aid is transferrable and what courses at your previous institution will transfer.

Preparing for Advising and Registration

1. You received an official evaluation of your transfer credits with your acceptance to Mercer University. Please review the transfer course assignments prior to your advising appointment.

2. You must provide math placement data. This can be satisfied by transfer of a college level math course (not pre-algebra) or a score on the Mercer Math Placement exam. This is particularly important if you are pursuing a pre-health/science program.

3. Please prepare for your advising and registration appointment by reading the general requirements in the current Mercer University Catalog. The Academic Information starts on p. 61. Make sure to read carefully the sections about: undergraduate degree requirements, general education requirements and University graduation requirements. You must also review all requirements for your proposed major. This includes all courses required for the major as well as any additional supporting courses from outside the major.

4. Complete a tentative academic plan to ensure you understand the path to graduation or completion of professional school pre-requisites. Examples of four year schedules for all majors and concentrations can be found at….

Offices to Contact

We know that many offices go by different names at different institutions. You may be used to paying your bill at the Business Office, or talking with Financial Aid about your scholarships, grants, and loans. At Mercer, those offices, and others, may have different names than those to which you're accustomed. So, the offices below are organized by topics, with contact information provided.
