Mission Statement
MerPMed aims to inform pre-health students about educational, volunteer, and career opportunities in the health sciences.  MerPMed works to provide opportunities for pre-health students to connect with other students who have similar educational and career goals.

General Information

MerPMed is a student-run organization for Mercer University students who are interested in pursuing careers in the health sciences.  Although many of MerPMed's members are pre-medicine students, students on all other pre-health tracks are welcome and encouraged to join.  Attending MerPMed meetings and events provides students with the opportunity to learn more about their chosen educational and career paths and to meet and talk with other pre-health students.

MerPMed conducts monthly meetings and occasional community service events.  MerPMed community service activities have included visiting local elementary schools to educate students about the dangers of smoking and judging elementary school science fair projects.  MerPMed meetings are generally informational and cover such topics as writing the personal statement, the professional school application process, and the interview process.  Guest speakers are common and have included professionals from medical, dental, and pharmacy schools, from the community, from the local Medical Center, and from the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship team. Examples of other MerPMed events include tours of the Mercer University School of Medicine and participation in Mercer Overnight's Mix and Mingle sessions with high school students.

For more information about MerPMed, you may contact the club's officers at daniel.scott.houser@live.mercer.edu or attend one of the club's monthly meetings (flyers announcing future MerPMed meetings are posted in the Willet Science Center and around campus).
