The Office of Academic and Advising Services offers resources for Mercer-Macon students who intend to apply to professional and/or graduate schools after completing their studies at Mercer. These include a full-time pre-professional advisor on the Mercer-Macon campus, the information on this website, track-specific Student Handbooks, brochures, seminars, and other information at the office's location in Penfield Hall in Macon.

Pre-Professional Tracks

Mercer offers a variety of pre-professional tracks designed to help students enter professional school in the field of their choice. Specifically, Mercer offers pre-professional tracks in the following areas:

Pre-Medicine (including allopathic, osteopathic, and podiatric medicine and optometry)
Pre-Nursing
Pre-Optometry
Pre-Pharmacy
Pre-Physical Therapy

Guaranteed Admission Programs
For programs in Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Nursing, Pre-Pharmacy, and Pre-Physician Assistant, Mercer offers guaranteed acceptance of qualified students into Mercer's professional schools. Preparation for Professional and Graduate School
Mercer provides a variety of services to assist students in preparing for entry into professional school. Beyond advising, Pre-Professional Programs offers a series of seminars, workshops, entrance exam preparation, and letters of recommendation for qualified students.

Organizations
Students wishing to surround themselves with young people with similar goals may join MerPMed, Mercer's club for all pre-health students. High-achieving pre-health students are invited to apply for membership in the Georgia Epsilon chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the national pre-health professions honor society. Pre-pharmacy students are encouraged to join the Association of Pre-Pharmacy Students (APPS). Pre-health students may also join Beta Beta Beta, the national biology honor society, and/ or the Mercer student chapter of the American Chemical Society.
