In 1959, the independent Southern School of Pharmacy merged with Mercer University. In 1981, the School became the first institution in the Southeast and the fifth in the nation to offer the doctor of pharmacy degree as its sole professional degree.

Highlight for this Academic Year: College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences consistently has one of the largest application pools among pharmacy schools in the nation and is a recognized leader in pharmacy education. One of the School's strongest and newest initiatives is in the area of pedagogical research, which involves research dealing with teaching and learning.
