Mercer University encourages students to participate in learning experiences outside of the classroom. Undergraduate students may choose from more than 100 student organizations, including 17 fraternities and sororities, several academic, pre-professional and religious organizations and other special-interest groups. The Student Government Association works closely with administrators and faculty to represent student interests and issues.
The Connell Student Center serves as the hub of student activities in Macon. The Student Center houses dining facilities, lounges, the bookstore and student organizations’ offices. Mercer’s residence halls provide a variety of living accommo-dations, including single and double rooms, suites and apartments.
The Center for Student Involvement and Leadership helps students identify out-of-class leadership opportunities to meet individual interests, and assists student organizations in planning a variety of educational, cultural and social programs. The Department of Campus Recreation implements programs that include intramural sports, sports clubs, health clubs and adventure trips. It manages the Human Resources and Recreation Building, which provides wellness programs and equipment.
Programs addressing personal issues and development are offered by the Department of Counseling and Student Development. The Career Services Department provides programs on career development, cooperative education and internship opportunities, job search skills, placement and student employment on campus.
