Merit/Talent Scholarships
 
Presidential Scholarships*
Several top level scholarships are awarded through the Presidential Scholarship Competition, an annual event held each fall for the most talented early-applicants to Mercer University. Students who wish to be considered for this competition must apply for Early Action admission to Mercer by November 1. 

University Scholarships*
These merit-based awards are awarded to applicants who do not compete in one of Mercer's scholarship competitions and who meet certain academic and leadership criteria. The scholarships may not be combined with other academic funds awarded by Mercer.

* These merit based scholarships are awarded to students to use for eight semesters (Fall and Spring, not Summer).  The awards are extended for Engineering students to a length of ten semesters.

Georgia HOPE Scholarship
The Georgia Lottery for Education has been funding Georgia's HOPE Scholarship since 1993. As the largest private recipient of HOPE funds, Mercer University attracts HOPE Scholars from all across the Peach State. HOPE pays a maximum of $3,000 per academic year at a Georgia private college or university. To receive HOPE as a freshman, students must graduate from high school with a district-defined B-average and be certified by the Georgia Student Finance Commission. Certain students who do not graduate from a Georgia high school, but who are residents of Georgia and graduate with a B average from a certified secondary school program, may receive HOPE.

Scholarship for Engineering Education (SEE)
This scholarship is a forgivable loan program offered to Georgia students studying in an approved bachelor of science in engineering degree program at Mercer. The award is $3,500 per academic year. Students must agree to work in Georgia as an engineer upon graduation to avoid loan repayment.

Robert B. McCarty Chemistry Scholarships
This scholarship is named in memory of Robert B. McCarty, a 1925 graduate of Mercer who devoted his life to work in the field of chemistry with the Gulf Oil Corporation. Two scholarships are awarded to an entering freshman and a rising sophomore who exemplify high potential for success in the study of chemistry. The amount of this scholarship varies each year. United States Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarships
Two-, three- and four- year scholarships awarded by the U.S. Army are available to qualifying students without regard to need. All Army ROTC scholarships provide $17,000 annually for tuition, $600 annually to assist in cadet book fees, $250-$400 per month cadet stipend. In addition to the traditional benefits of an ROTC scholarship, recipients at Mercer are provided full room and board scholarships. Athletic Grants-In-Aid
Mercer competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The Athletic Department fields teams for men in soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, cross-country and air rifle; and for women in soccer, basketball, fast-pitch softball, golf, tennis, cross-country and volleyball. The Office of Intercollegiate Athletics awards Athletic Grants-In-Aid to qualified student athletes. Music Scholarships
The Townsend School Of Music awards scholarships each year to outstanding vocal and instrumental musicians. Contact the Townsend of Music for information on these awards and audition dates at (800) 637-2378, ext. 2748.

Outside Scholarships 

Mercer University administers over $10 million in outside scholarship funds each year.  The Office of Student Financial Planning keeps an updated database of outside scholarships with contact names, phone numbers and website addresses. 

Phi Theta Kapps Transfer Scholarships
Mercer offers academic scholarships to students transferring from a junior or community college who are members of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges. The student must be a member in good standing to receive consideration for the award.

Transfer Scholarships
Mercer offers transfer students academic scholarship assistance. Official academic and financial assistance transcripts are required. Awards will be made based on the cumulative grade point average earned at all previous colleges attended, as well as on personal character and achievement.
