Head Coach Ryan Bailey has over twenty-five years of experience in competitive running and over ten years of experience coaching. He is a 1984 graduate of Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Ga. Bailey served six distinguished years in the United States Air Force, earning Southwest Asia Campaign and Air Force Achievement medals for service during the first Gulf War. Bailey then attended Texas Tech University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences with magna cum laude honors.
While coaching at the high school level he garnered numerous regional championships, five consecutive state championships, and three state team runners-up, and coached a dozen individual state champions in cross country and track. Bailey is the recipient of numerous coaching awards. He has also been a USA Track and Field certified coach since 2002.
Since Coach Bailey's NCAA debut in 2002 as head coach at Mercer, six different school records have fallen. During the fall 2005 season, Bailey guided the fastest women's cross country team in Mercer history.
