SPRING 2009
PREREGISTRATION NOTE:
Before you can register, all students must have a clear financial account, which includes the library, campus housing, bursar, and/or campus police (tickets). If you have any outstanding obligations at these agencies, they place a “hold” on your registration and you cannot be registered for classes until these outstanding obligations are cleared. This “hold” locks us out of the computer to register you for classes. Also, make sure your immunizations are current, mostly for new students. If you have questions about your immunizations, contact the Student Health Center at 478-301-2696. Please clear these requirements before you attempt to register.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES:
Please reference the enclosed Spring 2009 schedule to determine which class(es) you wish to take, then email Bob Holland at Holland_R@Mercer.Edu. You will receive an email confirming your registration.
TUITION FEES:
If you do not receive a bill from the Bursar’s Office, payment is due by the first day of class. If you have a question, contact their office at 478-301-5512.
HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUM:
Mercer University requires each student to have health insurance coverage. A fee is charged each semester on your tuition bill. The Bursar also encloses a note about how to waive the coverage if you already have existing health insurance. DO NOT IGNORE THAT NOTE. You must do this waiver by their stated date, otherwise the health insurance premium cannot be waived. Contact the Bursar’s Office at 478-301-5512 if you have a question.
MERCER PARKING DECALS:
If you need a 2008-2009 Mercer parking decal stop by STN 219 or call Bob Holland at 478-301-2835. You will need to know your tag number, so be sure to it available. If you wish, you can stop by Mercer Police and complete a registration card and obtain a parking decal.
TAKING COURSES IN ATLANTA:
You may take classes on the Atlanta campus on a space-available basis. You should be aware that Atlanta courses are frequently closed-out. If you are considering taking an Atlanta course, you should have a contingency plan in case you are not able to enroll in the Atlanta course. You should not try to directly enroll in Atlanta. Since you are a Macon student and your student records are maintained here, you are required to register through us.
WITHDRAW/DROP A COURSE:
In order to drop or withdraw from a course, you need to complete a Drop/Add Form or Course Withdrawal Form. Have your instructor sign and date the form and return to the MBA Office. Forms are available in the SSBE office or the Registrar’s Office. The refund policy is outlined in the Mercer University Bulletin.
USING CAMPUS FACILITIES:
If you plan to use any campus facilities such as the library, computer facilities, or the University Center you will need a Mercer I.D. card, which can be obtained from Auxiliary Services at no cost. Call 478-301-2741 if you have questions. If you need a parking decal for your car, you can obtain this from the Mercer Police Station or come by Bob’s office for a form. Be sure to have you tag number with you. In addition, as a Mercer student you are entitled to discount tickets (usually 50% off) for events at the Grand Opera House.
REMINDER ABOUT TRANSIENT COURSES:
To receive transient credit for a course, the grade in the course must be at least a “B” and from an AACSC accredited institution. This requirement is standard throughout academia and is not unique to Mercer. Also you must request the school you attended to send a transcript to me at Mercer.
GRADUATION:
MBA students must apply for graduation in order to receive their degree. At the latest, this should be done the semester before you expect to complete your course requirements. You need to go to http://www2.mercer.edu/Registrar/Graduation+Application.html and complete the graduation application.
GPA REQUIREMENT:
You are reminded of the requirement to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in the MBA Program. If you fall below a 3.0 GPA, you will receive an academic warning. Any subsequent semester in which the GPA is below 3.0 would result in academic probation, academic suspension or academic exclusion.
NAME AND/OR ADDRESS CHANGES:
If you have a name change, you need to contact the Registrar’s Office at 478-301-2680. If you have an address change, contact Bob Holland at 478-301-2835. Please keep your address current in case we need to contact you.
REFERRALS:
We’re always looking for new students for the MBA Program. If you have any relatives, friends, and/or coworkers that might be interested in our program, ask them to give Bob a call at 478-301-2835 and he will send them an MBA Information Package.
