Leadership at Mercer University

Mercer University has a long tradition of producing leaders who serve others: from missionaries to statesmen and judges, from teachers and physicians to nonprofit professionals. The tradition of leadership and service to others continues today with a number of programs, including Mercer Service Scholars, an intensive co-curricular leadership program for students committed to service; the Program in Leadership and Community Service, an academic and service-learning program that trains students for community leadership roles, and Leadership MU, an annual leadership workshop for the Mercer community. The Center for Leadership and Volunteerism coordinates Mercer's community work-study internships and tutoring programs and serves as a clearinghouse for student volunteer opportunities.

Making an Impact

"My time at Mercer University, both as a student and a Campus Minister, has forever changed my perspective on social responsibility. Through the University's community development and service-learning initiatives, I have come to appreciate the depth of one's challenge to be a faithful and caring neighbor while protecting the identity and character of the neighborhood. It is in this place that Mercer University offers students and its neighborhood the opportunity to experience the truest sense of community."
