Students are expected to be present and on time for all class meetings, including the first class.  Students who anticipate being late or absent need to notify the instructor in advance if possible.  If it is not possible to let the instructor know in advance, student should contact the instructor as soon as possible to explain the absence and to determine what work needs to be made up due to the absence. If a student adds a class after the first class meeting, it is the responsibility of the student to make up all work missed during that first class meeting.  Many students have families, and child care may sometimes present a problem.  If such problems occur, contact the instructor prior to class to discuss any available options.  Be advised that it is inappropriate, however, to bring children to class or to leave children unattended in any building or elsewhere on campus.
