PURCHASING AND SETTING UP A NEW LIVETEXT ACCOUNT

Candidates in Mercer University's professional education programs are required to maintain an electronic portfolio for submission of standards-based assignments and to showcase their work.  Mercer University uses the LiveText Portfolio platform to give students maximum access and flexibility in designing the portfolio. LiveText is also used extensively in all field experiences. Each candidate will need to purchase a LiveText membership online to access and personalize their portfolio and to complete their field experience assignments.  The LiveText platform provides:

• Flexible and easy-to-create online portfolios that can be customized to fit your personality.
• Personalized web-based workspace that is accessible anytime, anywhere.
• Ability to selectively share your work with potential employers and colleagues.

Purchasing LiveText Online

1. Go to www.livetext.com.
2. On the left side, click on the Buy Online link on the right side of the page, then on Student Membership.
3. Choose the membership you wish to purchase (either the basic $98 one or the enhanced $128 one with unlimited access to Learn360® Edition).  If you are purchasing online with a credit card, choose Purchase Online; if you have purchased a keycode through the bookstore*, choose Activate Keycode. 
4. As you enter your personal information, pay special attention to the following:
• When choosing the institution, choose Mercer University - Education (NOT Mercer University Macon: Stetson School of Business).
• When entering your student ID#, check carefully for accuracy, do not include dashes or spaces, and use your MERCER student ID, NOT your social security number.  Having the correct Mercer ID number associated with your account is critical to our being able to locate you and match you with your courses.
• When giving the required school email address, use your Mercer email address. You can include a personal email address in the personal email field; if you only use one address, it must be the Mercer one and you must enter it in both places.
5. Remember to check the box “I Agree to the Terms of Service.” 
6. Write down your username and password and keep it in a safe place.
7. If paying online, enter your payment information, confirm your order, and print your receipt on the subsequent pages.

*If you need to purchase LiveText in the bookstore (online purchase recommended, if possible – it will probably save you money), there are memberships available in the bookstores.  Ask for LiveText; you will receive a package that contains a “keycode” that you will need in order to register your account.  Once you have your keycode, go to the LiveText site and follow the registration procedure outlined above.
