Six teacher education candidates majoring in the Holistic Child recently visited and observed in nursery and primary classrooms in communities around Edinburgh, Scotland. The General Teaching Council of Scotland, the regulatory agency for Scottish schools, hosted the group and arranged the school visits. The candidates, whose interest is Early Childhood/Special Education, compared Scotland and the United States as to similarities and differences in the structure of the school system, the curriculum, the pedagogy, and the culture of school.
