The Honorable Johnny Isakson

United States Senator, Georgia
"A View From Washington"
Senator Johnny Isakson has been one of Georgia’s most prominent public servants for nearly three decades. Now completing his first year of service as United States Senator, he brought vast experience to his office, having served three terms in the United State House of Representatives, 17 years in Georgia’s General Assembly and three years as the chairman of Georgia’s Board of Education.
Senator Isakson serves on four Senate committees that have jurisdiction over education, health care, transportation, environment, ports, veterans’ affairs, jobs and small businesses.
During his tenure in the U.S. House (1999-2005), he worked with the Republican leadership to pass President Bush’s 2001 tax relief package, to strengthen the Armed Forces and to create the new Department of Homeland Security. Co-sponsor of the Balanced Budget Resolution, he was an original author of the President’s No Child Left Behind Act. He worked to enhance and maintain Georgia’s roads, while also working on mass transit alternatives to reduce congestion and improve air quality. He continues to his work on these critical issues in the Senate.
With a well-earned reputation as an astute business leader, the Atlanta native served as the president of Northside Realty for more than 20 years.
