New Students
From the Director

Dear Incoming Students,

We are excited that you will be joining us! At Mercer University, we believe that an important part of a college education is the experience of living on campus.  The benefits of campus living are numerous — the development of life-long friendships, a sense of community, enhanced campus involvement and higher academic performance.

For many new students, this is the first time they have lived away from home, and the community that develops on campus and in residence halls becomes a second family.  Mercer's Office of Housing & Residence Life helps students feel comfortable in their home away from home.

As described in the  Living on Campus PDF brochure,  Mercer offers a variety of on-campus housing — from residence halls for freshmen to apartments for upperclassmen.  In addition, the University provides:

     • Internet access in every freshman room;

     • Modern climate control and air conditioning systems; and

     • Safety features such as key card access.

Please refer to the Living on Campus PDF brochure and Housing Handbook for descriptions of the housing options available to you. The Plans & Photos section of this site offers some insight to what you can look forward to while living on campus. Also, a list of links to other helpful information is available.

Please complete and return the Housing Contract and Housing Preferences sheets enclosed in the packet you should be receiving from your Admissions Counselor.  Please note that before your housing application can be reviewed, you must submit your admissions enrollment deposit, if you haven't already done so.  We recommend submitting the housing application and enrollment deposit by the priority deadline to ensure you receive maximum consideration for your preferred campus housing assignment.  The enrollment deposit is non-refundable.

I hope to see you during Orientation or on move-in day for new students.  In the meantime, please call your admissions counselor at (800) 840-8577 or (478) 301-2650 with any questions regarding housing.

Sincerely,

Jeff Takac
