Dr. Katherine Holland received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Tennessee Tech University and the Master of Music and Doctorate of Musical Arts degrees from Stony Brook University with Frank Morelli in Music Performance. Prior to relocating to Atlanta, she served as the Interim Principal Bassoonist with the Knoxville Symphony and the Knoxville Opera.
Dr. Holland is an active freelancer and teacher throughout the Atlanta area. Past engagements include the Charleston Symphony, Atlanta Ballet, Asheville Symphony, Orquesta Sinfonica UANL, North Shore Pro Musica, the Hamptons Choral Society, and Opera Nashville. She currently serves as the Principal Bassoonist of the Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra and the Interim Second Bassoonist of the Valdosta Symphony.
Dr. Holland has performed with a wide range of artists including Trey Anastasio and Evan Ziporyn. In addition to her position as Instructor of Bassoon at Mercer University, she teaches at Gainesville State College, Shorter University, and Georgia College and State University.
