Marie Roberts
Adjunct - Part-time Lecturer Voice
Marie Jarriel Roberts has won awards from The Metropolitan Opera National Auditions Council, the MacAllister Opera Awards and The National Association of Teachers of Singing. She has appeared professionally as a soloist for many choral works including Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation, Brahms' Requiem, Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise, Rutter's Gloria and Requiem, and others. On the opera stage, she has sung major roles in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, a world premiere of Mozart's first opera, Die Schuldigkeit, and Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors.
Prior to joining the voice faculty of Mercer University in 1995, Mrs. Roberts taught voice at Indiana University Southeast, Bellarmine College, Georgia College and State University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mrs. Roberts holds the degree Master of Church Music in Vocal Performance and the Performer's Certificate in Voice awarded by The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and the Bachelor of Arts in Music from Mercer University.
Mrs. Roberts and her husband, Stanley, have made Macon their home for the past 15 years, and have two sons, Blake (13) and Beau (7). |
