Pre-Nursing Macon  

Georgia Baptist College of Nursing plans to  offer the BSN pre-licensure degree program in Macon beginning fall semester 2013!  (This program offering is pending the following approvals: Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; Georgia Board of Nursing; and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.) Nursing courses will be taught In Macon fall semester 2013!  The College will continue to  offer the BSN degree program in Atlanta, as well.

Pre-nursing at Mercer University in Macon
The pre-nursing curriculum is offered by the College of Liberal Arts on the Mercer University campus in Macon.  Students interested in completing pre-nursing coursework in Macon should submit an application to the College of Liberal Arts, and indicate "pre-nursing" on the application.  A pre-nursing student submits application (in addition to the  Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) score) to Georgia Baptist College of Nursing (GBCN) at completion of the First Semester of the sophomore year of the pre-nursing curriculum. The GBCN application fee is waived for Mercer-Macon pre-nursing students.

Currently, nursing courses are only offered on the Cecil B. Day campus in Atlanta.  However, in 2013, the nursing sequence will be offered on both the Cecil B. Day campus in Atlanta and on the main campus in Macon.  The same nursing curriculum plan will be in place at both locations.  To view the overall curriculum plan for both sites, click here

College of Liberal Arts (CLA) students who complete the necessary prerequisites at Mercer University's main campus in Macon and who achieve the following: 
     1. minimum GPA requirements by the end of fall semester of their sophomore year; and 
     2. minimum required TEAS score established for admission
are Guaranteed Admission Program in the following fall semester class. 

Specific requirements for the Guaranteed Admission Program include:

  1. A 3.0 science grade point average AND a 3.0 average cumulative grade point average
  2. Meet and preferably exceed the TEAS requirement
  3. All pre-nursing course requirements (57 hours) must have been taken at Mercer University, with the exception of AP/IB credits and/or limited transient courses
  4. January 15 application deadline for fall entry on the Atlanta campus; unlimited seats available.

If you are a high school student and you would like to attend the nursing program in Macon, strong consideration should be given towards enrolling in the freshmen pre-nursing coursework. Transfer acceptance to the Macon BSN program will be considered on a space available basis.  Application for the 2013 Macon nursing class will not be available until fall semester 2012.  If you are a current High School student and you want to consider nursing at Mercer, join us as a pre-nursing student in Macon!  Click here for more information.
