Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge to Address Executive Forum
The Honorable Tom Ridge, former Secretary of Homeland Security and former Governor of Pennsylvania,
will be the featured speaker at The Executive Forum on Thursday, March 9, in Atlanta and Macon. He will give a lunch presentation at noon at The InterContinental
Buckhead in Atlanta and a dinner presentation at 6:30 p.m. at the University Center on Mercer's Macon campus. The Atlanta presentation is sponsored by the Center
for Health and Learning, a partnership of Piedmont Healthcare and Mercer University.

Commissioner of Georgia Department of Corrections to Speak to Grads
Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner James E. Donald will address graduates of Mercer
University's Public Safety Leadership Institute on at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 6, on Mercer's Cecil B. Day Campus in Atlanta. Donald became the first African
American to head Georgia's Department of Corrections when Gov. Sonny Perdue appointed him to the post on Dec. 1, 2003. Before leading the 14,400-employee
Department of Corrections, Donald had a distinguished 33-year career in the United States Army where he rose to the rank of major general. The Public Safety
Leadership Institute (PSLI) at Mercer University is designed to examine current leadership models and practices, and to create an awareness of the knowledge,
skills and attributes of a successful leader in the public and safety environment.

Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald Keynote Speaker for Law Day
Patrick J. Fitzgerald, U.S. attorney for
the Northern District of Illinois, will speak at Law Day 2006 on Friday, March 10, at 12:30 p.m. on
Mercer's Macon campus. Fitzgerald has provided leadership and played a personal role in many significant
investigations involving terrorism financing, public corruption, corporate fraud and violent crime,
including national narcotics and gang prosecutions. His most recent high-profile case was his role as
special counsel to investigate the alleged disclosure of the identity of a purported employee of the
Central Intelligence Agency.

Gwinnett Superintendent To Address Mercer's School Leadership Academy
J. Alvin Wilbanks, CEO and superintendent of
Gwinnett County Public Schools, the largest school system in Georgia, will be the featured presenter at
Mercer University's ELITE Leadership Academy in Atlanta at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 11. The event will
be held at Mercer's Atlanta campus and is a part of Mercer's
Master of Education in Educational Leadership program, which is currently training more than 120 students
to be school leaders in counties throughout the state. The event will focus on "Leadership's Impact on
Student Learning" and will also feature breakout sessions with leaders from several other school systems,
including Houston, Bibb, Henry, Rockdale and DeKalb counties.

Student to Conduct Moscow Symphony Orchestra
While most college students are spending their spring breaks at the beach this March,
one Mercer student will be traveling to Moscow, Russia, to hone his orchestral conducting skills. Sophomore Music Performance major Keitaro
Harada, of Tokyo, Japan, will conduct the Moscow Symphony Orchestra March 12-17 as part of a master class for orchestral conductors.
Harada will participate in the master class under the direction of world renowned Maestro Vladmir Ponkin, principal conductor at the
Helikon Opera Moscow and the State Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Philharmonic, professor of conducting at Tchaikovsky State Conservatory,
Moscow, and artistic director and principal conductor of the National Academic Folk Orchestra of Russia. Harada will be competing against
other master class participants for the opportunity to guest conduct the Moscow Symphony Orchestra during its 2006-2007 season.
Harada is also a 2005 and 2006 winner of the International Conductors Workshop hosted by Mercer University in Macon, Ga. He is the apprentice
conductor for the Macon Symphony Orchestra.

2006 College For Kids
Mercer's College for Kids offers two programs for
elementary-aged students, these programs are open to students in select geographic areas who excel in
writing or math have been recommended by their teachers. College for Kids is divided into Math Wizards, a
math enrichment program, and Budding Authors, a writing enrichment program. Programs are taught by Georgia-
certified elementary teachers and are offered in morning or afternoon sessions. Contact Elaine Singley
