Doctor Available to Talk About Springtime Allergies
Springtime is right around the corner, and so are allergies. Dr. Fred S. Girton, chair of the Department
of Family Medicine at Mercer University School of Medicine, is available to talk with the media about issues pertaining to allergies – what they are, how they
affect the immune system and how to treat the symptoms. Girton, a family physician trained in immunology, can suggest ways to reduce exposure to the allergen and how
to manage symptoms caused by the allergen. He notes that although you can develop allergies later in life, there is no cure for allergies, but there can be relief from symptoms.
