Sociology provides students with a critical awareness and understanding of the social world of which they are a part. It familiarizes students with their social responsibilities as members of society. The major provides a basic foundation for advanced study and careers in sociology, social work, criminal justice and anthropology. Its focus on social structure and interaction is useful for students entering business, government and the professions.
Sociology - A major consists of nine courses, as well as one additional elective.
Anthropology - An individualized major is available with permission of committee in accordance with College of Liberal Arts requirements.
Criminal Justice - An individualized major is available with permission of committee in accordance with College of Liberal Arts requirements.

Alpha Kappa Delta, the international sociology honor society, taps students for membership each year.
