Dr. Greg Domin, associate professor of political science, published “Research at a Small, Comprehensive Southern University,” in the April issue of The Political Science Educator. He presented several papers, including, “Whither the Lecture” and “The Implications of the Bush Doctrine and an Historical Overview of U.S. Foreign Policy,” at the American Political Science Association annual meeting, Philadelphia, Pa., Aug. 30-Sept. 3, where he also acted as working group organizer and lead discussant of “Undergraduate Education.” He also presented the papers, “The Bush Doctrine So Far,” at the Oxford Round Table, Harris Manchester College, Oxford, England, Aug. 13-18, and “Spying on Americans: Is it the Right Approach to the War on Terror,” at Wesleyan College, Macon, April 26. Domin also attended “Teaching Through Undergraduate Research,” at the Council on Undergraduate Research annual meeting, Greencastle, Ind., June 23-27, and “Faith in the Classroom: Christian Perspectives in Teaching and Learning,” at Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Mich., July 17-21.
Dr. Chris Grant, assistant professor of political science, presented the paper “The Little Engine that Does: How One NGO Refocused Attention to the Needs of Children in Moldova” at the “Social Protection for Children, Women, and Families: An Analysis of Recent Experiences” Conference, New York City, Oct. 31. The conference was sponsored by UNICEF and the New School for Social Research. The paper, which he wrote with Irini Nicorici, was selected for publication in the proceedings of the conference. He also presented “The Paradox of Moldova: A Study in Context, Construction, and Clarity” at the annual meetings of Georgia Poltical Science Association, Savannah, Nov. 18. Grant was selected as the Volunteer of the Year for Clipa Siderala of Chisinau, Moldova, a charitable organization that supports orphanages, and is serving on the Education Committee of the Macon-Bibb Chamber of Commerce.
