WHO: McIntosh High School senior Drew N. Hartley

WHAT: Mercer University to award Hartley first-ever Jackson W. Tarver Memorial Scholarship, which provides full tuition and room and board for four years.

WHEN: 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 14.

WHERE: McIntosh High School, guidance conference room

WHY: On March 2, more than 150 incoming freshmen competed in the Jackson W. Tarver Memorial Scholarship Competition. This inaugural scholarship, which honors the late Jackson Williams Tarver, Mercer class of 1938 and former president and publisher of the Atlanta Journal & Constitution, is based on academic criteria, interviews and leadership activities.
