ATLANTA Laura Hudgens, a junior at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University, was recently named editor of Imprint, the official publication of the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA). In this role, she will be responsible for reviewing manuscripts, determining the magazine's focus for each issue, writing editorials, communicating with state and local chapter newsletter editors and determining the agenda for the NSNA mid-year workshop.

Hudgens, a native of Albany, Ga., earned a degree in journalism at the University of Georgia. She said her educational background combined with professional experiences in marketing, promotions, production and editorial make her role with the 45,000 circulation Imprint a "natural fit."

"I am excited I can use these talents through NSNA to further the goals of students and the nursing profession," she said.

Hudgens, a Piedmont Nursing Scholar, currently works in the emergency room at Piedmont Hospital as a clinical partner. In addition to her journalism education, she has completed Certified Nursing Assistant training at Georgia Medical Institute and pre-nursing courses at Georgia State University.

"A national office like this brings great prestige not only to Laura, but also to our entire College of Nursing," said Dean Susan S. Gunby. "Laura is well-prepared to one day become the editor of a major nursing publication."

Hudgens is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Hudgens Jr. of Albany, Ga. Hudgens and her husband, Jay L. Hedberg, reside in Atlanta.
