ATHLETIC AUCTION ITEMS
MACON, Ga. - Mercer's 19th annual "Big Auction,” to benefit the Bears’ athletic program, will be held Tuesday, May 15, at the Grand Opera House.
Silent items will be up for bid from 12-7 p.m., with live items going on the block at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
This year’s auction features the addition of a raffle with a $10,000 cash prize going to the winner. Tickets for the raffle are $100 each and are on sale through the Athletic Department. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Each ticket stub from the raffle will admit two people to the hospitality area.
Numerous outstanding items will be up for bid, including: trips to Mexico, Hilton Head, Tybee Island and a weeklong stay at a Vermont chalet; sports memorabilia, like footballs signed by the NFL’s all-time leading scorer and field goal kicker, Morten Anderson, baseballs signed by Hall of Famers Phil Niekro and Bob Feller and a golf bag signed by Larry Mize, the 1987 Masters champion. Other items of interest include: a script of L.A. Confidential, autographed by Kim Basinger, and a framed Michael Jordan autographed Los Angeles Times newspaper upon his retirement. The silent auction features items such as ticket packages to selected Braves, Falcons and Hawks games and rounds of golf at nationally-recognized courses throughout the Southeast.
