‘Come Join the Party’ at Mercer Madness on Friday Night

QuadWorks, the student activities board of Mercer University, and Mercer Athletics invite you to “Come Join the Party” at Mercer Madness 2007 in a celebration of the start of the upcoming basketball season. The fun begins at 7 p.m. at the University Center with the Bears’ volleyball game. The night will include many activities highlighting the men’s and women’s basketball teams and the spirit of the University.

 

The festivities include a carnival, food and prizes and the exciting conclusion with a fireworks display.

 

7 p.m. - Volleyball vs. Campbell University in the UC Arena

 

7:30 p.m. – Carnival at Porter Patch

 

9:15 p.m. - Dance/Cheer Kick-off Spirit Competition in the UC Arena

 

9:30 p.m. – Basketball Showcase in the UC Arena

 

10:20 p.m. – Fireworks outside the UC

 

The women’s basketball team is under the direction of first-year head coach Jannell Jones while the men are led by head coach Mark Slonaker, now in his 11th season at the helm.

 

Following a preseason matchup in the Coaches vs. Cancer Game with Georgia College and State University on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the University Center, the men will begin the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the University of Southern California. The team’s first home game will be against Alabama of the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

 

The Mercer women will also have a warm-up game with Georgia College on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the University Center at 7 p.m. before beginning their regular season by hosting South Carolina State on Friday, Nov. 9.
