Meeks, a noted sociologist, will give the address “Free to be Rooted in a Flat World.”  The students’ topics at the morning presentation will include: the career attainment plans of female students, student participation in campus ministries, an examination of college student volunteerism and how networking effects students’ ability to find a job. The afternoon presentations include: student attitudes toward welfare system, factors that influence sexism among students, an examination of student satisfaction and the influence on social factors on the student perceptions of an authoritarian god.

WHERE:
Connell Student Center Conference Room II, on Mercer’s Macon campus.

WHY:
Each student has conducted surveys or interviews with fellow students and members of the community as part of their empirical social research. The presentations are a part of the seminal project in these sociology students four years at Mercer and each student selected a project of interest to them. The presentations promise insights into the views of college students on a number of issues and may shed light on issues affecting the Macon community.
