It was another record-breaking year for the 2008 United Way of Central Georgia campaign. Macon campus and MERC employees pledged or gave $56,405 for the campaign, surpassing last year’s record of $46,498 and smashing the 2008 campaign goal of $47,000.
The number of employees who contributed to the campaign, which concluded in November, increased to another record, with 286 contributors, including 100 new contributors.
United Way helps support organizations that deliver important services to Central Georgia families, such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
The slogan for this year’s campaign, Live United, focuses on three building blocks for a good life: Education – Helping Children and Youth Achieve Their Potential Through Education; Income – Helping Families Become Financially Stable and Independent, and Health – Improving People’s Health.
