Health Policy Expert to Address Executive Forum Nov. 10

Health policy expert Robert Laszewski will be the featured speaker at The Executive Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 10. He will give a breakfast presentation at 7:30 a.m. in the Presidents Dining Room of the University Center. The presentation is sponsored by the Center for Health and Learning, a partnership of Piedmont Healthcare and Mercer. He will also give a lunch presentation at noon at The Piedmont Driving Club, 1215 Piedmont Ave. NE, in Atlanta.

Laszewski is president of Health Policy and Strategy Associates Inc., a policy and marketplace consulting firm specializing in assisting its clients through the significant health policy and market change afoot. Before forming HPSA in 1992, Laszewski was executive vice president and chief operating officer, Group Markets, for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group.

Laszewski’s clients include health insurance companies, casualty insurance companies, HMOs, Blue Cross organizations, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and physician groups.  He has consulted extensively in the purchase and divestiture of health care and insurance businesses.  Laszewski has offered his perspective on health care reform in testimony before committees of both the United States House and Senate.

Laszewski has participated extensively in the nation’s health care debate, especially on health insurance reform and the impact it will have on existing health insurance programs, the insurance industry, and the evolving role between payers and providers.  He has written and spoken widely on the subject of health care reform and market change and participated globally by chairing two international meetings on the issue of international prescription drug pricing and the use of medical technology in Europe compared to the U.S.  Laszewski has appeared in media features on networks including ABC and CNN as well as on “The McLaughlin Group,” McLaughlin’s “One on One,” The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.
