Internationally renowned violinist Robert McDuffie, Distinguished University Professor of Music, will give a free concert on Tuesday, March 11, as part of the Spring String Series of the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Neva Langley Fickling Hall of the McCorkle Music Building on Mercer’s Macon campus.
The program will include a variety of music styles and periods and will showcase several of the Center’s outstanding string students. McDuffie will perform “Winter” from Antonio Vivaldi's best-known work, “Four Seasons,” with the McDuffie Center String Orchestra of Mercer University. The orchestra is composed of nine string students, along with critically acclaimed violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti, who serves as director of the McDuffie Center, as the concertmaster. He will also play Maurice Ravel’s “Sonata for Violin and Cello” with freshman cellist Lavena Johanson of Seattle, Washington. He will complete the concert with some Viennese pieces, accompanied by award-winning pianist Elizabeth Pridgen of New York.

“UC Live” featuring Cartel, Mario and Plain White T’s Coming April 12
Quadworks, the Campus Activities Board of Mercer University, will present “UC Live" at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 12, featuring three nationally known headliners, in the University Center Arena on Mercer’s Macon campus. "UC Live" will feature national recording artists Cartel, Mario and Plain White T’s. Additional sponsors for this event are Cumulus Broadcasting, Mercer University's Student Government Association, and the Eleventh Hour.
Tickets for the concert, available beginning Monday, March 10, are $18 for Mercer students with ID, $23 for military, high school and college students with ID, and $28 for the general public. Mercer student tickets will be available at the Mercer Ticket Sales office located in the University Center. Other tickets can be purchased at www.tickets.com or by visiting www.mercer.edu/quadworks.
Headliners Cartel, Mario and Plain White T’s are all known for their national and international hits. Each artist has seen success on Billboard charts and on music stations across the country.

2008 Tift College Alumnae Weekend to be held at Mercer
Mercer University will host the 2008 Tift College Alumnae Weekend Friday and Saturday, April 4-5, in Macon. Events include class reunion dinners on Friday evening and an awards and recognition ceremony on Saturday morning, followed by a luncheon and lecture, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Cathryn Futral. ‘Chicago - The Musical’ Coming to Macon
The national tour of “Chicago - The Musical” will make its Macon premiere at The Grand Opera House, a performing arts center of Mercer University, for a two-night engagement Wednesday-Thursday, April 9-10.
