Mercer’s annual Family Weekend will be held Sept. 18-20 on the Macon campus and, for the first time, will be run by Campus Life. Previously, the event was held later in the fall and organized by Mercer’s Student Government Association.
“This is the first year Campus Life has coordinated the event,” said Aaron Adkins, director of campus life. “In the past, it has been planned and implemented by SGA. However, SGA will still have a major role in Family Weekend as it is an event that requires essentially all hands on deck.”
The goal of Family Weekend is to allow families to experience a day in the lives of their students, Adkins said. This year’s Family Weekend includes a number of sporting events, as well as concerts, shows and various tours scheduled throughout the weekend. “Families of our students are an integral part of the Mercer community,” Adkins said. “We want to ensure that they remain connected to their students while they are away from home and connected to the institution as well.”
