University Sets Enrollment Record, Tops 8,200 Students

Topping an enrollment record set a year ago, Mercer University has established another record for total enrollment this fall, with the University-wide student population up 2 percent to 8,236 students. Fall 2009 was the first time the University’s enrollment had gone above 8,000 students.

This year’s enrollment increase is driven in part by a continuing expansion of degree programs, including doctoral programs, new programs in the health sciences, and the continued expansion of the Medical School campus in Savannah. Among the 11 colleges and schools those with the highest growth rates were the James and Carolyn McAfee School of Theology, the College of Continuing and Professional Studies, the School of Medicine, the Townsend School of Music, the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
