Professor Horat is nationally certified and recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has taught at GBCN since 1995, teaching at both the sophomore and the senior level.

Professor Horat served as President of the Pi Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International from 2002-2004.  She also served on the Georgia League for Nursing Program Planning Committee as chair of the CEU Committee and Exhibition Committee. Of special interest is her weekly volunteer service at Gwinnett Community Clinic as a nurse practitioner. The clinic serves indigent non-insured residents of Gwinnett County. Students during their Community Course spend some of their clinical time providing care at the clinic.
