Professor Shugart is a graduate of Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. She has extensive clinical experience in caring for cardiovascular patients. Professor Shugart began teaching at the College in the 2001. Professor Shugart is also a member of professional organizations including: National Association of Nursing Students (Sustaining Member), National League of Nursing, Georgia League of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (Pi Gamma Chapter and Epsilon Alpha Chapter), American Nurses Association, and Georgia Nurses Association (5th District).  She also serves as a faculty advisor for the Georgia Baptist Association of Nursing Students.
