While new to Georgia Baptist College of Nursing, Dr. Troyan has extensive teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate nursing education. She has a served in various other positions in nursing administration, program development and in clinical practice. As a certified nurse midwife, she has a special interest in adolescent pregnancy, and has worked for several years in a family planning clinic serving underprivileged women and their families.
Throughout her career she has participated in several professional nursing organizations, and has also served as a commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve Nurse Corporation since 1990. In the Navy, she was afforded with numerous experiences related to professional nursing practice, including obstetrical and gynecological nursing, family practice nursing, and fleet hospital training.
Dr. Troyan's research interests are in adult education learning strategies, specifically in informal learning methods including mentoring and role modeling.
