Stay committed to your decisions... but flexible in your approach! |

Welcome to Georgia Baptist College of Nursing! The hallways of the College are beginning to fill with the sounds of new students on campus! These sounds include lots of laughter, the rustling of papers and forms carried from office to office, and the exceptional note of excitement in the cultivation of new knowledge leading to the attainment of a professional goal - to "be a nurse." I commend all of our students on their desire to begin and continue their studies in the profession of nursing. In survey after survey, the nation's registered nurses are held in high esteem by members of the community, our patients, and our colleagues in healthcare. We face the most devastating shortage of registered nurses in the history of our country and by all projections we will endure this shortage for many years to come. There is simply no substitute for nursing! Whether you are a prelicensure student or a graduate student, your education offers you the opportunity to invest in a life long career of caring.
The College of Nursing is paving a pathway to further excellence as the new Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing begins this fall semester! As the inaugural class begins online synchronous and asynchronous coursework, along with selected on-site campus sessions, doctoral students will "pave a pathway to further excellence." Our new undergraduate curriculum will also begin this fall semester. In addition, we are proud to have the first Piedmont Healthcare Endowed Chair in Nursing join our faculty. Furthermore, our alumni will be celebrating a 100 year anniversary at the October Alumni Day event.
It is an exciting time! Since 1902 we have educated professional nurses for positions at every level of health care and we have clearly established our reputation for excellence in scholarship, leadership, education, and clinical practice. Whether you are considering the prelicensure program, RN-BSN coursework, or you are entering graduate coursework, we invite you to come and evidence the pride, dedication, and commitment shared at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing!
Linda A. Streit, RN, DSN Interim Dean and Professor Associate Dean for Graduate Programs
