The Legal Writing Program at the Walter F. George School of Law of Mercer University is the top-ranked program among all of the law schools in the nation as announced today by U.S. News and World Report. The 2008 edition of America’s Best Graduate Schools lists Mercer’s program first in the country after a ranking of second in 2007 and tied for first with Seattle in 2006.

The specialty ranking, begun by U.S. News in 2006, is voted on by legal writing directors throughout the country, reflecting the opinion of those with specialized knowledge.

“Being at number one again is a well-deserved recognition of the hard work, vision and innovation of the Law School’s faculty under the leadership of our legal writing faculty, particularly that of professor Linda Edwards,” said Law School Dean Daisy Floyd.

Overall, the Mercer Law School remains among The Top 100 Law Schools, tying four other schools at that mark – Stetson, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, University of San Francisco and University of the Pacific-McGeorge School of Law. This is the fourth consecutive year the Mercer Law School has been among the top 100 in the country. Founded in 1873, it is one of the oldest law schools in the country.
