Fatigue  

Everyone feels tired at times, especially after exercise or a stressful day.  Common causes of feeling tired include lack of exercise, insomnia, stress, depression, boredom, obesity, medications, and acute illnesses.  Feelings of tiredness that persist may be related to a medical or emotional condition. Fatigue is excessive tiredness or lack of energy that is not relieved by rest.  Fatigue may be caused by numerous medical conditions, and requires an evaluation by a health care provider.

Measures to combat fatigue:

  • Exercise at least 3 times a week
  • Get adequate sleep
  • Avoid caffeine
  • Avoid nicotine
  • Manage stress
  • Organize your activities
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Eat a healthy diet
