Brett Younger
Associate Professor of Preaching
Brett Younger is the Associate Professor of Preaching at McAfee. He received his B.A. (1983) in religion
from Baylor University, and his M.Div. (1986) and Ph.D. (1991) from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He teaches both introductory and advanced courses in preaching.
Before coming to McAfee, Dr. Younger served as Senior Pastor of Broadway Baptist Church, Fort Worth,
Texas, a church with a big pipe organ and lots of lawyers. Previously he was the Pastor of Lake Shore
Baptist Church in Waco, Texas (small organ, Baylor professors), College Heights Baptist Church in
Manhattan, Kansas (funeral home quality organ, Kansas State professors), and Central Baptist Church in
Paoli, Indiana (upright piano, hard-working farmers).
In addition to being a Visiting Professor at McAfee in the summer of 2005, Brett has taught at
Manhattan Christian College, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Dr. Younger is the author of the not nearly popular enough book, Who Moved My Pulpit? He writes a
monthly column, “The Lighter Side” for Baptists Today. He has written numerous articles and sermons that have appeared in a variety of journals and periodicals.
Brett is not good enough at tennis to play with other members of the McAfee faculty, but he’s working on
it.
He and his wife, Carol (also a graduate of Baylor University and Southern Seminary) have two children,
Graham, a student at Davidson College, and Caleb, a ninth grader.
