The Mercer Preaching Consultation 2008 offers an extraordinary lineup of speakers that you will want to hear. Scheduled for September 28-30 at the King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort, St. Simons Island, Georgia, this year’s program will be one of our best! Attendance at this annual event is limited to just 200 participants.
Speakers we have scheduled for this year:
Dr. Gregory A. Boyd, founder and senior pastor of Woodland Hills Church, an evangelical megachurch in St. Paul, MN. Dr. Boyd is a graduate of Yale Divinity School and Princeton Theological Seminary, and he was professor for sixteen years at Bethel University. Known for his dynamic speaking, Dr. Boyd is also the author of fifteen books, including his best-selling Letter from a Skeptic and Myth of a Christian Nation.
Dr. Joel Gregory,professor of Preaching at George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University, Waco, TX. Dr. Gregory is a summa cum laude graduate of Baylor University. He earned the Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and the Ph.D. from Baylor. He has written five books: Gregory’s Sermon Synopses, Growing Pains of the Soul, Homesick for God, James: Faith Works and his best-selling memoir, Too Great a Temptation, which chronicles his two years as pastor at First Baptist, Dallas.

Following the Sunday evening program, Mercer President William D. Underwood is sponsoring a buffet dinner for everyone attending. It will give us an opportunity to gather and fellowship with one another.
Mr. D. E. Adams, troubadour for Edge Outreach, Louisville, KY, will provide music. Mr. Adams is a vocalist, known and loved for the rich timber of his baritone voice and the warmth of his sense of humor. Mr. Adams has several CD’s of hymns and songs.
Registration is $100 per individual and is on a first-come, first-served basis. We have reserved a block of rooms at the King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort, 201 Arnold Road, St. Simons Island, GA 31522. Rooms begin at $151 per night, single or double. To reserve your hotel lodging, call (800) 342-0212, ask for The Mercer Preaching Consultation group rates and select the style room and location you prefer. You need to guarantee one night’s lodging. Rooms will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Cut off date is August 28. We have also reserved rooms at the Hampton Inn, (912) 634-2204, at $115 per night (cut off date August 28) and the Holiday Inn Express, (912) 634-2175, at $88 per night (cut off date September 5).
St. Simons Island is a major vacation spot in Georgia, as well as the southeast.
