Welcome to Townsend School of Music!
Offering undergraduate and graduate degrees, Townsend School of Music (TSM) is home to more than 100 artists preparing for careers as performers, music educators, conductors, church musicians, composers, theorists, and music scholars. While TSM was created in 2006 by a generous gift from the J. Thomas McAfee family, Mercer University's heritage of preparing musical artists dates back to the 19th century. TSM students enjoy the benefits of studying with a first-level music faculty in an environment emphasizing performance, musicianship, scholarship and leadership. Building on our excellent foundation, TSM is also home to two special programs: the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings and The Townsend-McAfee Institute for Graduate Church Music Studies. These programs give heightened focus to our string performance area and graduate church music program.
I invite you to explore our Web site for more information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or telephone.
